Manaslu, at 8,163 m, is the eighth highest mountain in the world standing isolated and yet in the very centre of the Nepalese Himalaya. To trek around the base of this majestic giant is to trek perhaps the very best of all the ‘best kept secrets’ of the Nepalese Himalaya.
Manaslu trek is a fascinating course, the Manaslu, Known as "three peaks". It is a well- loved trek from Gorkha Arughat via Dhading Bensi or Trisuli Bazar to the Burhi Gandali, passing through a huge precipitous valley to the contrasting world of Sama, crossing snow-covered Larkya La and descending to the Marsyangdi Khola, All supplies necessary for the trip (including food and kerosene) must be carried in and all rubbish must be portered out. As it is a long course, you must be in good physically and have extra days for rest during the trek. Not only are there exceptional views in every direction but the low-to-high range of altitudes presents such varied flora and, most noticeably, a wide cultural spectrum, including strong influences from Tibet mixing with Nepali ethnic diversity.
